The Géoportail partnership
The Géoportail project is based on a three-way partnership with a joint approach. Various members, both geographical data-producers and data-users, are already part of the team.
The French Ministry for the Budget, Public Accounts and the Civil Service: the Géoportail contracting authority.
In the context of France’s online administration programme (ADELE), the DGME (Direction Générale de la Modernisation de l'Etat – French General Directorate for State Modernisation), with support from the Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development, is implementing the Géoportail programme via its two project-managers, the IGN and the BRGM.
The IGN: the Géoportail project manager
The IGN (Institut Géographique National – National Geographical Institute) is responsible for managing, developing, administrating, assisting and providing technical support for the Géoportail project.
The BRGM: the Géocatalogue project manager
The BRGM (Bureau de Recherches Géologiques et Mini`res – Geological and Mining Research Office) is responsible for managing, developing, administrating, assisting and providing technical support for the Géocatalogue project.
Project Organisation
The "SIG ADELE" steering committee monitors Géoportail’s progress and coordinates the inter-ministerial collaboration aspects of the Géoportail Administration section.
An editorial committee, chaired by the DGME, monitors the development of this section of Géoportail, deciding the editorial policy of Géoportail Administration.
Members
The following members, either producers or users of geographical information, are already associated with Géoportail and are shortly to further enhance the site’s offering with their data and services.
